Syra Bass Pro 5
The Syra Bass Pro 5 String. The Pro version has the multi-ply maple and walnut through neck with carbon fibre rods that enable such a thin profile and sculpted heel area that gives unequalled access to the higher frets
The body wings are alder and the top facing is Irish walnut as is the control cover. The pickups are Armstrong/Larkin humbuckers which are each wired with a three way mini switch that allows the output to be single coil, parallel humbucking or series humbucking which gives a huge range of passive tones. The pickup signals are processed through a John East U-Retro Deluxe preamp - just about the best you can get with studio quality components and performance. Hardware is Schaller.
There are two battery boxes. One battery powers the preamp, the other powers the built in tuner that uses LEDs in the place of the side dots at the 24th fret. When the passive tone control is pulled up the tuner is switched on and the output muted so the player can tune up without the audience hearing.
A very professional package that looks good, plays exceptionally well and is versatile enough to handle any gig on stage or in the studio. Named after my beautiful wife. The body shape that started the Syra line of basses was the idea of Espen Hauge in Norway. |
