Akira's ASAS Semi. This is Akira's third guitar from me. This ASAS Semi is a little thicker than the usual (45mm rather than 35mm at the edge) and has both back and front carved from very tight flamed Croatian maple. The neck and sides are flamed Swiss maple, binding and headstock veneer are walnut with plain ebony fingerboard. The bridge has RMC saddles fitted which is connected to an RMC Hybrid pre-amp (which sadly, they no longer make). The magnetic pickups are designed by me and made by Kent Armstrong. The neck has a similar tone to a PAF while the bridge is strong on the mids and with quite high output. When you mix the signals from the two pickup sources you have a huge range of tones - very, very, versatile - full rock to almost acoustic with 'strat' on steroids in there too! Additionally a Wittman tuner is fitted using the two last fingerboard side dots as the leds. Akira suggested that the scratchplate should be carved and contoured like the top and made from the same Croatian maple. I think this was a great and unique idea |
