The Archtop mandolins
The archtop mandolin is built in the same way and using the same high quality materials as the ASAS archtop Jazz guitars.
The body is slightly larger in volume than most giving a lower resonant frequency which makes for a very smooth tone
Features include deep, handcarved, tap tuned, arched tops and backs, multi-laminate rock/flamed maple necks, fully bound bodies, necks and scratchplate.
The finest spruce and maple are used for the construction with all detail work (bindings, headstock, scratchplate etc) made from contrasting woods.
Scale length is 350mm and there are 24 frets. The compensated bridge allows for remarkable intonation along the neck
A modified Highlander pickup is built into the special bridge and the Highlander pre-amp is fitted through the tailblock and floats free in the body cavity. This system gives excellent flat response and needs to be heard to be believed.
The standard high gloss finish is blonde for all ASAS models with the option of traditional or outlandish sunbursts.

Each mandolin is hand made to order, so choices include:
- fingerboard radius
- fingerboard width
- neck profile
- Engelmann, sitka spruce or yellow cedar tops
- back and sides from quilted or birdseye maple
- left handed at no extra cost
