A special order Blen for
Del. He wanted to be able to play in a seated position and
have a scale he was comfortable with. So this is the first
MicroBlen, a 35" scale , 5 string, high C model with a maple
body and birdseye maple top. There is no back rest needed as
the stand supports the instrument in the playing position.
The controls have been moved to facilitate access when
seated. Also there is a magnetic pickup mounted close to the
bridge to blend with the Highlander.
A batch of Blens. I generally
work in batches of three similar instruments as it is
efficient in the use of time and machines. It also helps in
having the same mindset while working. These Blens are
topped with (left to right) Irish spalted beech, Irish
walnut and Irish quartersawn oak.
