Ciaran's luck. Ciaran, a music teacher, has been a friend for years and was lucky enough to pick up one of my basses secondhand for a good price some years ago. More recently he asked me about buying this guitar which had been sitting in the workshop store since 1989 and was used for trying out different pickup and wiring combinations. Why was this guitar sitting around? I built it as a sample for a trade show but, at the time, nobody (except me) liked the colour and it was unsold and I never showed it again. It is a standard ASAD RS in quited maple with rosewood fingerboard and Chris Larkin/Kent Armstrong pickups which are wired so that there are ten different pickup combinations (not as complex as it sounds but very versatile). When Ciaran showed an interest I cleaned it up for him and he bought it for a special price. Ciaran's luck! |
