Dom's JM. Dom O'Driscoll had been a customer for a long time after buying one of the first ASAP guitars. He was in the workshop at one time and tried a JM model and this is what he decided to order as his second guitar. The JM uses quartersawn mahogany for top back and sides. Mahogany, despite being a hardwood, is very suitable as a top giving a tone somewhere between cedar and spruce and was used quite a lot during the Depression. Dom's JM is fairly standard with a 12th fret join, slotted headstock,, maple binding and abalone soundhole. The khaya mahogany is given a slight red mahogany toner and, in this case, the gloss body contrasts with the silk finish on the neck.
