ASAST Archtop in stock

This beautiful ASAST 17" archtop was made as an exhibition piece to show along side some paintings that my wife was exhibiting at the K Club. It was not an order so now I have it in stock. This represents a rare opportunity to immediately acquire such a guitar without the normal waiting time.

The hand carved top is bookmatched from Kevin Hall's perfect Canadian sitka, hand carved, graduated and tap tuned. The back and sides are quilted maple as is the headstock veneer. Binding is grained ivoroid to contrast with my version of vintage sunburst. The neck is a three piece laminate of flamed maple with veneer details and slightly wider than normal. The floating bridge, floating scratchplate and fingerboard are ebony while the tail and machines (Schaller Vintage M6 with stepped buttons) are chrome. The pickup is a humbucker which is attached to the fingerboard end so there is nothing on the top to damp it's vibrations.

Soundwise it is very loud acoustically and projects really well with exceptional sustain and real richness of tone. Amplified it does all you expect from an archtop jazzer - with my amp set flat you don't need a tone control to get 'that' sound.
