Jean-Marie's guitar is an interesting combination of ideas. The mahogany body is faced with a deeply arched top of fine flamed maple - sustains for weeks! The unlacquered neck is very chunky in form, constructed from birdseye maple and glued into the body. The carved top and headstock veneer are coloured with hand applied black stain in such a way as to give complete transparency to the wood through the high gloss lacquer and to maximise the beauty of the flaming in the maple. Pickups are a combination of a Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates at the bridge, an SSL5 Custom in the middle and a Kinman Traditional at the neck. One of Ken Wittman's wonderful built in tuners is fitted and operated by pulling up the volume control. A modern version of a traditional rock guitar with killer performance. |
