Peter's ASAPJ. Rio rosewood is very, very variable in colour from black through chocolate to almost white, often highly figured. I once had some which had beautiful green stripes in it. When I started work on the Rio in Peter's guitar the wood looked quite pink and plain although perfectly quartersawn. Spraying on the lacquer saw a transformation to this beautiful gold with the grain standing out . The figure is really subtle and I think this add to the beauty of the end result.
