Spalted beech Bassix As I have mentioned elsewhere on the site, I am trying to use as many native Irish woods as possible in my instruments so I was delighted to find beautiful spalted beech in Galway and the North of Ireland. It is ideally suited to the facing for solid body instruments and needs no colouring. As to the Bassix, I think the Reacter body shape suits this configuration. This one has a Brazilian mahogany core (which contrasts well with the beech) an ebony fingerboard and an ABM bridge. Pickups are Kent Armstrong humbuckers made to my design and the EBS Pre 2 band EQ.
