Video producer and live event multi camera director (pro Ice Hockey www.giantslive.tv.....shameless plug!) living in Northern Ireland (originally from Dublin......but that matters less these days!) I was lucky enough to first meet Chris in the early eighties when the move to guitar building had only just started. The computer i'm typing on is sitting on a Larkin table......yes, he made a few in the early days! (Maybe you don't want me to tell anyone that.....edit at your leisure....) In 1990 when thinking about a grad project from the film/Tv course I was on I approached Chris about the possibility of making a 30 minute documentary - and both Chris and Syra agreed! So, coming soon to a screen near you - The Larkin story "Against the Grain" made on location in 1990 (A very stormy new year if I remember correctly!) My other claim to Larkin fame is owning what Chris tells me he reckons is the 7th guitar he made (1981....I think). I then also fell for the ASAD in 1989. Unfortunately despite best efforts my reasonable guitar skills were never going to pay the bills and I have become largely acoustic since then......not helped by my borrowed AC30 (canNOT be played quietly) getting left back to a hire shop - never to be seen again - Pippa, my darling wife denies all knowledge or involvement! However I will continue to lust after a Larkin semi acoustic.....and a 5 string bass - Some fine day...... ;-)
